Most Anticipated 2019 Releases

January 02, 2019

Bookkeepers! This is the first year I actually have to wait for books. I've never been one to know about upcoming releases (probably because I was too busy with The Classics and/or reading instead of stalking bookstagram/goodreads/publishers to pay attention...) but this year is different and I feel the need to let you know which ones I have an incredibly deep and unwavering need for.

Descendant of the Crane

This was my first read of 2019 and I devoured the ARC on the 1st and let me tell you, it is wonderful and full of secret plotting. Absolutely NO complaints from me. Get this one ASAP!

King of Scars

Nikolai is one of my favourite characters as is the Grishaverse which is Russian inspired, which means no one should be surprised it's on this list. As soon as my copy comes in the mail, I'm devoting all my time to this glorious tome. If you haven't read the Grisha trilogy, get on it and then grab a copy of KOS!

Blood Heir

Russian inspired... and I heard it's an Anastasia retelling? Plus, it's a dark fantasy! Sign. Me. Up.

The Girl the Sea Gave Back

A companion novel to my only new 5 star read of 2018 (Sky in the Deep) featuring Halvard as the main character...this is a MUST HAVE!

Ninth House

It's Leigh Bardugo. It's dark academia. I will automatically want to read anything by Bardugo. She creates some of the very best characters ever.

The Priory of the Orange Tree

Not only is the book GIGANTIC (which always gets my heart beating) it's about dragons and a queendom. NOT a kingdom. I'll say it for those in the back–FIERCE FEMALES ARE MY FAVOURITE. (And so are dragons...) Thankfully, I have the ARC and will be digging in ASAP!

Queen of Ruin

I loved Grace and Fury and I can't wait to see how the story continues for Serina and Nomi!

July 2, 2019

Sorcery of Thorns

A book about magical books? And a TALL fierce female main character? Sign. Me. Up.

June 4, 2019

Have we talked about my obsession with the Romanov family? With Russian literature/folklore? You know why I need this one.

The Bone Garden

Magic, mystery, and dark imaginings? A girl made of bone dust? PLEASE!

August 6, 2019

The Winter of the Witch

One word: MOROZKO  Plus, it's (yet another) Russian inspired tome and I need it so I can know what happens with Vasya.

Wicked Saints

Are we sensing the Russian theme?

To Best the Boys

Mary is an author you need to read! Her writing is beautiful and gorgeously descriptive and this story of a science loving female MC is a book you should definitely read this year! I was lucky enough to read an ARC a few months ago and it ended up as one of my favourites of the year.

House of Salt and Sorrows

A standalone inspired by the 12 Dancing Princesses and full of gothic atmosphere by the sea? Yes. Please.

See you next time!
