Blue Light Blocking?

October 04, 2018

I spend a copious amount of time staring at a screen, whether it's my phone or my computer as I edit photos or sling some words down on a virtual page. I have to be honest, I never used to get headaches, but this past year, they have been attacking my peace of mind so when approached by Pixel to review their glasses that promise to reduce eye strain (and headaches!) I didn't hesitate! They were kind enough to provide me a pair with my prescription, which is a feat itself because friends, I am blind as an old decrepit bat.

So what exactly is blue light and why do you wanna block it? I'll let Pixel explain:

Blue light also known as high-energy visible blue light (HEV) has high frequency and short wavelengths similar to UV light. Prolong exposures to blue light has shown to damage the retina, the part of the eye that detects qualities such as color and light intensity. Because your eyes are working extra hard to cope with the blue light, you begin to experience eye strain. Over sustained periods, the exposure can contribute to long-term vision issues such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

So, yeah. Totally NOT okay with acquiring cataracts OR AMD.

As soon as my pair arrived ( I chose the Thera frames in Brandy Tortoise and I REALLY want them in Champagne too!) I placed them on my face and only took them off to sleep. Now I can tell you with the WHOLE truth, these glasses are WORTH. IT.

I didn't have a single headache, NOT ONE for the three weeks I wore them. Not a single headache plagued this head and my eyes feel rested and I couldn't be more thankful to Pixel for the opportunity! Plus, they are super nice frames and are incredibly cute, so if you're on the fence, get off! I highly recommend trying out a pair if not only to reduce your eye strain but to reduce headaches and future eye issues. Plus, my cats totally approve.

The people over at Pixel have kindly offered a discount code to save $5 on your first pair, so use 'mybookishbones' when you snag a pair! And then let me know which ones you got!
